The software package also includes WinCC Basic for HMI configuration. The software may program S7-1200, S7-300,S7-400 PLCs.

The programmer also has knowledge of how to control equipment such as motors, valves and electrical solenoids together with an understanding of how to read analogue values and interpret digital signals.

Note: Siemens languages STL, SCL and Graph are equivalent to IEC 61131-3 Instruction List (IL), Structured Text (ST) and Structured Function Chart (SFC).
